Don't forget that I will also be participating in the Sandy Mountain Festival this year, on Saturday July 14th and Sunday July 15th! It's held in Meinig Park in Sandy, OR which is a gorgeous and huge park that will be filled from end to end with handcrafted artisan goods, food and live music. Come visit my booth and try on some jewelry. I may also reveal some new Fall designs there so you don't want to miss out. Oh, and among the delicious eats there, the nachos are FANTASTIC. So come, even if it's just for some awesome Nachos or to bring ME some awesome Nachos. Hee hee.

I have some great news! I recently was just accepted into the Raw Natural Artists community, and was selected to participate in their Solstice showcase this month. The event takes place on June 21st, and will include a variety of talented artists throughout various creative mediums including music, film, fashion, photography and art. The event will also be covered by local press and media which is exciting! Here’s the really awesome part: Raw gets tons of applications from local artists and hand picks who they want to showcase. They actually contacted me for this event and I hadn’t even applied! I am extremely flattered.
What is RAW?
RAW:natural born artists is an independent arts organization that hand-selects and spotlights independent creatives in visual art, film, fashion, music, hair & makeup artistry, photography, models and performing art.
RAW's mission is to provide up-and-coming artists of all creative realms with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity so that they might be seen, heard and loved. RAW educates, connects and exposes emerging artists in 22 artistic communities nationwide through monthly showcase events. Join us in celebrating the work of these artists.
Visit http://www.rawartists.org/portland/solstice for more information and to purchase a ticket to the event. Tickets are $10 each, and and the proceeds make it possible for RAW to offer this opportunity to the artists at no charge. I would LOVE to have you come to the showcase. If you can’t make it, buying a ticket still helps support me. What you need to do is click on the above link, click ‘BUY TICKETS’ and select ‘Rachel Hughes’ as the artist. Thank you all and I hope to see you there.

Things are getting so busy around here and it's really exciting to watch the growth happening...even through squinty tired eyes ;)
The Artisan Group has approved my Lava Turquoise Necklace for Drew Barrymore's swag bag. I decided to make her edition in 14K Gold FIll (the original is in brass) which looks bright and beautiful! Here is how it turned out:
If you like it and want to get one for yourself, they're now available here and at Etsy and are absolutely perfect for the sunny days ahead.
As for the MTV Movie Awards, I'm working to get my 100 pair of Rose Gold hoops made. I'm about halfway there, and also have my limited edition Delgado Necklace finished for the display. Two more colors of Rose Gold hoops have been added in my shop. All participating artists also had to submit a short bio for The Artisan Group's 'Event Guide' which is given to each celebrity in their swag bag. Writing a bio had to be one of the single-handed most difficult things I have had to do yet. Writing about myself, and in the third person, is just not something that comes naturally to me. However, this experience is already helping expand my knowledge, understanding and growth as an artist, and I'm so thankful for that.
When I thought it couldn't get any more busy around here, I received a very unexpected email today. I have been accepted to participate in the 2012 Sandy Mountain Festival this year, which is quite a large artisan venue! It's jurried which means you have to apply and typically such events are bombarded with jewelers. I'm really excited to have been selected and can't wait to introduce Saressa Designs to a large audience. This event will be held in Sandy, OR on July 14-15th, 2012. You can get more information here: http://www.sandymountainfestival.org/index.html
